SUMMARY:Housing Protest
DESCRIPTION:
President Clinton Can Easily Afford Harlem

How About YOU?

Illegal evictions, landlord harassment, and soaring rents are driving African Americans out of the historic Black community of Harlem. While our first Black President Bill Clinton can rent with relative ease in Harlem so many poor and working families are barely able to make ends meet. We are bringing this message of displacement and rising homelessness to the doorsteps of President Clinton’s luxury office digs.

Wednesday, July 19, 2006
In front of 55 West 125th Street
(Between Fifth and Lenox Avenues)

The established media has largely ignored the displacement and soaring evictions occurring throughout Harlem. This impact on Harlem is devastating. In fact Harlem is losing its African American population and this trend will continue unless the people intervene to save the historic legacy of Harlem.

WE DEMAND A MORATORIUM ON EVICTIONS.

Power concedes nothing without a demand! It never has and it never will. Frederick Douglass
