Each month I will review the work and progress of several 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporations operating within the Harlem communities and the New York City area. I shall focus on organizations whose endeavors contribute immensely to the improvement of human conditions and enlightenment of minds, and who manage to fulfill their missions, year-after-year, even though they lack adequate funds to support their budgets.

Moreover, I shall bring to the fore nonprofits that do not currently enjoy the ongoing benevolence of the gift-giving community and attempt to re-position these organizations as likely candidates for and ultimate recipients of seed funding that can foster their substantial growth and development. My analysis will build upon professional observations, interviews with administrators, and discussions with the organizations’ clients, as well as a review of their record in the communities and their historical purposes and changing missions.
