Welcome to Harlem invites you to experience the sites and sounds of Harlem during one of its many exciting tours that will show you the Black Mecca in an “up close and personal” way. We know of places to see and events and activities taking place that other tour companies aren’t aware of simply because we live here. But best of all, our tours are less expensive and offer more accommodations than those sponsored by other organizations that have no real roots in the Harlem community.
Our tours are led by true Harlemites who know where to go for the best of what the community has to offer. We can take you bargain shopping or to a feet-stomping gospel brunch at a famous Black churches or lead you on a walk through historic neighborhoods where American history was made. Then there are our brownstone tours where we “get you in the front door” to see the renowned architectural interiors designed by some of the great masters. And, of course, there are our evenings of live jazz played by world renowned musicians that include dinner and entertainment and ground transportation to your hotel.
And let’s not forget Harlem’s galleries of fine sculptures, paintings and African artifacts. We can arrange for you or your group to visit and talk with curators, artists and collectors and great scholars whom you have heard about but never thought you would ever have a chance to meet. They will provide you with a precise and accurate history about the people who once lived here and enlighten you on historical facts that are known only to those who witnessed events first-hand or garnered the information from those who did – all while you sip a delectable wine and enjoy nibblets prepared by our local ethnic chefs.
When your walking tour is over and your appetite is hardy, we will take you to one of Harlem eateries were you can sample the fixins or eat a full course meal of Caribbean, southern or vegetarian cooking. Regardless of were you eat, when you are done you will leave Harlem with a taste of soul in your mouth and a resounding spirit of ethnic culture in your heart.
