Dianne McIntyre and her ensemble of dancers and musicians bring the New Sounds in Motion back to Harlem. In a new work, McIntyre returns to perform in her original art and residence neighborhood. The piece merges movement and music in her signature style of erasing the separation of the two disciplines. As all are part of the same “band,” the artists fly, shout, explode, murmur, whisper, and carry a solid kinship with the audience. Rooted in the tradition of “the culture,” the work expands definitions of vernacular and technical prowess.
