We are our Ancestors: Opening reception at X Gallery

You’re invited to the opening reception featuring the works of photographer, Diaja titled: “We are our Ancestors”. It’s a free event taking place next week Thursday the 29th from 6pm-9pm at X Gallery (163 Malcolm X Blvd).
About the work and the artist:
Each featured portrait has a specific meaning and embodies rich African culture. Pairing each capture with modern African art, she produced a blend traditional portraits with abstract sensitivity. Each portrait is accompanied with historical content.
Ceres Henry known artistically as Diaja, is recognized for storytelling through various photographic series, which are often inspired by current events, Black and African culture, and social disparities. Her work has caught the attention of various publications including Vogue Italia, Huffington Post, and recently Black Enterprise to name a few.
Diaja prides herself in not only creating photos appealing to the eyes of her audience but thought-provoking/ educational photos that raise awareness of the world around her.
