The Art of the Journey – The Ben Jones Story – New York Premiere
New Jersey born Artist, Activist, Professor Ben Jones has used his art to bring awareness to the plight of people throughout the world, with a strong concentration on the struggles of the people of Cuba. Born in 1940 in the City of Paterson, NJ, Ben’s consciousness began to develop EARLY as a Social Activist. His art began to express the conditions and social climate of his time. Over the years, his artwork began to broaden, bringing awareness to environmental disasters as in the BP Oil Spill and also to the revolutionary struggles of the people of Cuba. This documentary is an educational tool for many of our youth, as well as adults to use as an example of what it means to represent something greater than oneself. Ben Jones is the epitome of the mantra, ‘Leave More Than You Take.’ Directed by William M. Barbee, Cuba/South Africa, USA, 2016, Documentary, 32 min English.
Followed by a panel discussion with director William M. Barbee and Ben Jones. Refreshments will be served.
