East African singer-songwriter, Somi returns to the Neighborhood Concert series with her blend of jazz and R&B. Somi has been praised for her “serious and seductive vocals” (The New York Times), and her 2014 album The Lagos Music Salon reached number one on Billboard’s jazz chart. She has performed with a wide range of artists—including Mos Def, John Legend, and Jennifer Hudson—and is a dedicated activist and founder of the non-profit organization New Africa Live.
