Gentrification has hurt Harlem
Manhattan: Harlem has been my home for some years now, and though I think most people here appreciate the new businesses that have sprouted in the neighborhood, worry still rests in the backs of so many minds of Harlem residents.
New buildings seem to pop up in a blink of an eye where empty lots or old buildings used to stand. But, unfortunately, these don’t seem to be for the people who have lived in Harlem from the start. It’s sad to see a community changing for the better – but not for the better of the people who have walked these blocks long before they were polished up with fancy condominium buildings.
