Josephine “La Baker” Baker

4/12/1975: African-American, dancer, singer, and actress Josephine “La Baker” Baker died in Paris, France on this day.  She came to be known in various circles as the “Black Pearl,” “Bronze Venus” “Jazz Cleopatra”, and even the “Creole Goddess”.  Josephine became a citizen of  France in 1937. She was fluent in both English and French.  #onthisday
