Music Tour Tips: From One Musician to Another

As a musician, visiting some of the world’s iconic music venues and experiencing live events is likely on your bucket list. If you find yourself in New York City, allow us to bring you to Harlem to discover its lively jazz scene! Here at Welcome to Harlem, we welcome all musicians and jazz enthusiasts to experience our neighborhood’s sights and sounds with an NYC music tour while guided by accredited, professional guides who are locals themselves.

Do you want tips for your music tour? Allow us to share some from your fellow musicians. We hope these can help you plan your visit with us and make the most of every experience we provide.

Time your visit or tour

On Tuesdays and Fridays, our Harlem Jazz Series lets you enjoy the smooth sounds of legendary names like Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, and Duke Ellington performed by extraordinary performers and emerging musicians in the afternoon or evening. You don’t even have to pay a hefty price to hear the best live jazz in Harlem!

Try an intimate jazz experience

Do you prefer an intimate NYC music tour? We recommend our Harlem Safe House Jazz Parlor Tour. Every first Thursday of the month, we take our guests to different brownstone venues to witness live performances from world-class musicians while learning about NYC history and indulging in delectable hors d’oeuvres. This experience is also an opportunity to mingle with homeowners and musicians themselves.

Visit a local Harlem church

Jazz isn’t the only music to enjoy in Harlem. Here at Welcome to Harlem, we also organize gospel tours that allow you to join friendly locals in church events. It’s a one-of-a-kind and immersive NYC music tour that gives an authentic insight into the community. We can bring you to Emanuel A.M.E. Church for the Harlem Gospel Series on a Saturday afternoon. Are you visiting around Easter or Christmas? Check out our Easter Weekend Gospel Celebration or Harlem Holiday Gospel Celebration at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
