This bookstore is a true sleeper in the neighborhood. Going there you get that old feeling of a neighborhood bookstore where you not only have a nice 
selection of relevant books, but can also have a slice of cake, coffee and a provocative conservation on the latest topics of the day. The staff is very friendly and it is like visiting an old friend. Sisters Uptown hosts book signings, readings by local authors and special guests and established book clubs for adults and children of all ages, a weekly meditation series and on-going storytelling programs. In addition, they host a P.R.E.P. Program (Promoting Responsible Enthusiastic Pupils).
Down the block you can pay a visit to the Hispanic Society of America Museum and Library. The library offers a treasure trove of over 250,000 books and periodicals. Then across the street is the Church of The Intercession, a large English Gothic complex consisting of the cathedral-like church and tower, a full cloister, vicarage, vestry, and parish house. In 1966 the church was designated a landmark.
