Rising star singers, soprano So Young Park; tenor, Petr Nekoranec; and baritone, Hyung Yun perform favorite arias & duets in a program presented by the Met Opera with pianist, Dan Saunders.
So Young Park – Soprano, So Young Park performs internationally throughout the United States, Canada, Asia, and Europe and has sung the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte with LA Opera, Houston Grand Opera, the Glimmerglass Festival, Michigan Opera Theatre, Opera Colorado, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Baroque, Hawaii Opera Theatre, Aspen Music Festival, Opera Naples, and the New England Conservatory. This coming season, she performs with Michigan Opera Theatre as Gilda in Rigoletto, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen, and makes her debut with the LA Master Chorale. She earned and artist diploma and master’s degree from the New England Conservatory, a bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University, and trained as a LA Opera Domingo-Colburn- Stein Young Artist.
Petr Nekoranec – Tenor, Petr Nekoranec recently completed his first year in the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. He spent two seasons as a member of the opera studio at Munich’s Bavarian State Opera, where he sang the title roles of Albert Herring and Le Comte Ory and Fabrizio in Martin?’s Mirandolina. He was also heard on the main stage as Parpignol in La Bohème, Albazar in Il Turco in Italia, the Animal Vendor in Der Rosenkavalier, and the Officer in Ariadne auf Naxos. Previously, he sang Lindoro in L’Italiana in Algeri at the Teatro Nuovo in Torino and Vašek in The Bartered Bride at Prague’s National Theater. His concert repertoire includes Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass. Mr. Nekoranec earned his Diploma in Classical Voice from the Pardubice Conservatory, Czech Republic.
Hyung Yun – Since his 2004 debut as Silvio in Pagliacci, baritone, Hyung Yun has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera as Valentin in Faust, Lescaut in Manon, Ping in Turandot, the Duke of Nottingham in Roberto Devereux, and de Valvert/Spanish Official in Cyrano de Bergerac. He has sung Marcello in La Bohème, Micheletto Cibo in Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten, Lescaut, and Angelotti in Tosca with LA Opera; Ping with the Santa Fe Opera; the title role of Rigoletto and Germont in La Traviata with Charlottesville Opera; Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Toledo Opera and Opera Carolina, Verdi’s Requiem with the Alabama Symphony; and Hayes’ Requiem at Carnegie Hall. Next season, he returns to the Met as Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly.
Dan Saunders – Dan Saunders has performed in recital with Jessye Norman, Kiri Te Kanawa, Kathleen Battle, Marilyn Horne, Tatiana Troyanos, and Thomas Allen; and with violinist Eugen Fodor. More recently, has appeared with Danielle de Niese, Isabel Leonard, Nathan Gunn, and Gerald Finley. He has also performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Paris’s Bastille Opera, San Francisco Opera, and London’s Wigmore Hall, as well as at the Salzburg, Tanglewood, Ravinia, and Santa Fe festivals. He joined the Met’s music staff in 1985 and has been heard on PBS’s Live from Lincoln Center and as a pianist on the Met’s international radio broadcasts and web streams.
