The Legends of Disco – Melba Moore, Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin, Norma Jean Wright (formerly of Chic), Ladies of SKYY, Double Exposure, Carl Carlton, D Train, and First Choice

Melba Moore made her recording debut on Mercury Records with “I Got Love”, followed by “Look What You’re Doing To The Man”. She starred in PURLIE, which earned her a TONY Award for her portrayal as “Lutiebelle”. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for ‘Best New Artist.’
Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin & Norma Jean Wright (formerly of Chic), first came to national attention as the original lead vocalists of the powerhouse multi-platinum recording group Chic.The Ladies of SKYY, Denise, Dolores and Bonné Dunning, are best known as the female vocalists of the hit group known as SKYY. They continue to perform all of their classic club, dance, funk and hip hop music hits nationally and internationally.Double Exposure is best known for their 1970’s hits on the Sal-Soul Record Label “Ten Percent” “My Love Is Free” “Everyman” and “Perfect Lover.”
Carl Carlton is an American R&B, soul, and funk singer-songwriter, best known for his hits “Everlasting Love” and “She’s a Bad Mama Jama (She’s Built, She’s Stacked)”.
D Train, is an American singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, 1980s with the release of his first album “You’re the One for Me” (working with songwriter/producer Hubert Eaves III initially as a duo), which spawned his first US Billboard Dance chart number-one hit, “You’re the One for Me” “Keep On” and the much covered Burt Bacharach hit “Walk on By”. He would go on to work with Eaves producing hits on the follow-up albums Music and Something’s On Your Mind.
First Choice is a three-piece 70s disco girl group, “I got something for your mind, your body & your soul”/ “It’s Not Over” are probably their most sampled lines (from the perennial “Let No Man Put Asunder”).
Cost: $100 $75, $55, and $35. All CUNY staff, Lehman Alumni, students, seniors and faculty received $5 off on selected events.
