Uptown Nights: Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah presents Stretch Music x Trap – October 7th and 8th at 7:30 PM
Uptown Nights: Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah presents Stretch Music x Trap – In celebration of the launch of his Stretch Music Residency, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah returns to Harlem Stage to premiere two nights of new music highlighting music inspired by the rhythmic legacies of the Diaspora and the next chapter of his Stretch Music exploration: Stretch Music x Trap. “Stretch Music” is a jazz rooted, genre blind musical form that attempts to “stretch” jazz’s rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions to encompass as many other musical forms, vernacular, thought processes and cultures as possible. Join us as Adjuah draws on the sonic legacies and compositional through lines of artists ranging from Mannie Fresh, Three 6 Mafia and Outkast to Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Future, A$AP Ferg and more; building a bridge from the hypnotic low-end to liberation and freedom with some of music’s boldest musicians and improvisers.
This work was supported by a Building Demand for the Arts Implementation grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. For more info: http://bit.ly/2bpDmAj
