West Harlem Piers Park – Harlem Travel Guide iPhone and iPad App

A waterfront park with a killer Hudson River view

West Harlem Piers Park, a two-acre waterfront oasis that connects West Harlem to the Hudson River, officially opened May 30, 2009. The park runs from St. Clair Place to 132nd Street between Marginal Way and the Hudson River. The park is filled with open spaces, fishing spots, public art, water tours, and running and biking paths. The bicycle and pedestrian paths provide a critical link in the waterfront greenway, creating a continuous path from the Battery to Dyckman Street. The piers can also accommodate a variety of vessels, allowing excursion boats and water taxis to dock in West Harlem. Public art displayed in the park by local artist Nari Ward include a series of sculptures titled Voice, which were inspired by the local residents who frequently fish at this site. The sculptures are accompanied by Signage Barriers, a series of street-sign-inspired text.
Don’t worry, we have you covered for something to chow down on when visiting the park, checkout Covo Trattorita Pizzeria and Lounge and have a pizza party in the park. Or you can visit Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and feast on delectable BBQ.
Transportation: Bus—BX15. Subway—1 to 125th St.
