First Fridays: Black Fraternities and Sororities/The Divine Nine Edition

May 3, 2019 6:00pm – 10:00pm
African American fraternities and sororities have a long tradition of championing education, service and empowerment on college campuses and in communities across the country. Join us on May 4 for a special First Fridays Black Fraternities and Sororities/The Divine Nine Edition, presented in partnership with members of the Deltas, AKAs, Zetas and the Kappas!
We’re calling all fraternity and sorority members and those who love them to come celebrate the history of the Divine Nine in the Langston Hughes lobby. Wear your paraphernalia and rep your organization as we dance to beats provided by DJ Ocross & WBLS’s own DJ Jon Quick.
In addition, First Friday guests are invited to visit our exhibitions during extended viewing hours:
Crusader: Martin Luther King Jr. presents an intimate travelogue of King’s pilgrimage to India, Nobel Peace Prize acceptance in Oslo, Norway, and work as a non-violent crusader for civil rights, as captured by select photographers of the day in the Latimer/Edison Gallery.
Syncretic Vibrations that engages a call-and-response between students in our Teen Curators program and the work of anthropologist Melville J. Herskovits, located in the American Negro Theatre
Signature drinks and food will be available for purchase from Melba’s Harlem in the lower level in the American Negro Theater.
Dress Code: Rep your Greek Organization with your colors or letters!
