Great Jazz on the Great Hill 2017

August 5, 2017 4:00pm – 7:00pm
Bring a picnic, blanket, and dancing shoes for the 10th rendition of this fun event! Co-presented with Jazzmobile, Great Jazz on the Great Hill features live music and swing dancing in a beautiful park setting. This event is free. Tickets are not required.
Performances by:
The Jimmy Heath Big Band
Legendary saxophonist Jimmy Heath takes the stage with his 14-piece swinging big band. Heath is a three-time Grammy Award nominee and a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master.

The Allan Harris Band
International award-winning jazz vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Allan Harris has been described as having a “formidable baritone [voice] with… husky edges and
deep resonant low notes.” His performances cover ballads reminiscent of Nat King Cole and swinging Frank Sinatra standards.

Matthew Whitaker Trio
A 16-year-old organist and pianist, Matthew Whitaker first began playing music at the age of three, taught himself the Hammond B3 organ at the age of nine, and four years later became the youngest artist endorsed by Hammond. His artistic resume is outstanding for any young musician; for a blind musician, it is even more impressive.
