Led by Jean Freebury
In conjunction with Night of 100 Solos: A Centennial Event
Co-presented by BAM, Mark Morris Dance Group, and Merce Cunningham Trust
For advanced dancers
Part of the official celebration of the Merce Cunningham Centennial
In this rare class, Jean Freebury, a member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company from 1992 to 2003, employs the same technique developed by Cunningham himself to train dancers for his company. The session begins with a warm-up designed to promote rhythmic accuracy, clarity of form, and spatial acuity. Participants then learn movement phrases drawn from this season’s staging of Night of 100 Solos, a unique global event in conjunction with the centennial celebration of Merce Cunningham.
